01/01/1970

Plastics are the most widely used and constantly discarded materials in our daily life. According to researches, 10% of environmental waste consists of plastic materials.
As a result of the researches, approximately 50% of the plastic materials we use in our daily lives consist of disposable materials.

Plastic materials are constantly used in our daily life. Some of the objects made of plastic materials are produced for long-term use.

Most are designed and manufactured for short-term use. (Bottles, caps, newspaper, etc.) Plastics can remain intact in nature for years.

It is possible to find plastic waste even in the most remote areas of the world.

However, plastics are recyclable materials. It is possible to use the said plastics for recycling as well. Considering the recycling of plastics, the first things that may come to mind are; water bottles, sachets, yoghurt boxes, shampoo bottles etc. Like this, plastics produced for home use can be recycled and reused in industrial recycling facilities.

Continuously Used Plastic Types

Polyethylene: It has a wide usage area.
Polypropylene: It is one of the widely used plastics. Automobile sub-industry, garden furniture etc. are used in the fields.
Polystyrene: Packaging, plastic parts of electronics and white goods, etc. use is available.

Polyamide: Fiber, toothbrush bristles, fishing line etc. There are usage areas.
Polyester: It is widely used in textile products.
Polyvinyl Chloride: Pipe, profile etc. used in their manufacture.
Polycarbonate: CD, glasses etc. used in their manufacture. It has the feature of not transmitting flame and self-extinguishing.

Types of Recyclable Plastics

Polyethylene terephthalate: Soft drinks, water bottles, jars.
High density polyethylene: Water pipes, shampoo bottles, cosmetic bottles
Polyvinyl chloride: Non-food bottles, fence, railing, windows.
Low density polyethylene: Greenhouse covers, film, packaging, electrical industry.
Polypropylene: Plastic bottles, electrical industry, kitchenware.
Polystyrene: Toys, videotapes, insulation materials
Polycarbonate: Nylons.
In plastic production, a plastic resin number identification system is used to help them identify the types of plastics and whether they are recyclable. This system consists of codes that help in product controls and classification of recycled materials.
